FAQs
Where are Good Dearest Unhappy fragrances made?
Our fragrances are made by hand in our tiny studio in Tacoma, Washington.
Are Good Dearest Unhappy fragrances clean?
Claiming that our fragrance is clean implies that others are dirty for using different ingredients at safe, regulation-approved levels. We do not endorse this type of binary thinking. As with everything in life, there is nuance and complexity. We fully support careful consumption and ingredient knowledge, but fear-based marketing involving the word clean doesn't align with our values.
Good Dearest Unhappy fragrances are safe, intentionally created, and crafted in accordance with strict industry regulations—the same way brands that identify themselves as clean create their products.
At the heart of GDU is a desire to create fragrance art that makes you feel wonderful and inspired, which means safety and sustainability will always be at the core of what we do.
Do you offer returns?
We do not offer returns. We strongly encourage you to purchase a discovery set before a full bottle! Perfumes wear and smell differently on all of us—that’s part of the magic.
How long before my order arrives?
Each Good Dearest Unhappy fragrance is made-to-order. Our team is very small, so we ask for your patience! Your order will ship in 5-7 business days in most cases, though delays are possible. If you are concerned about your order, please contact us.
What’s up with the name?
Our name comes from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The Monster says, “I distinguished several other words without being able as yet to understand or apply them, such as good, dearest, unhappy.” You can read more about our inspiration in the Our Story section.
